Long Trip

I picked the poem Long Trip because it gave me a lot of imagery. My image of the poem is that there is like a flat surface on land and sea. The metaphor “The sea is a wilderness of waves, means when the narrator was on the trip, he only saw water.” The gist of the poem is that Langston Hughes was traveling in a long trip over sea. My favorite lines are “Rise and roll, hide and are hidden because the narrator was maybe describing the action the boat was doing and maybe there are sea creatures hiding in the sea.” My opinion of the sentences is that it gives me an image of the sea what it looks like on the trip. My image of the two sentences is that Langston was maybe on a boat the waves was moving up and down, it was also moving the boat. – Andrea Ashon
