GEORGE WASHINTON’S SOCKS BY EG

Chapter 11:  I’ll be alright matt told himself as he sat next to Israel. I picked this quote because if he will be lonely and afraid

Chapter 12: He wiped his nose which had begun to run again and had he wondered if his body will ever stop hurting. I chose this quote because if his body hurts he will get weaker and weaker.

Chapter 13: I wonder how Katie is doing. Matt was thinking as he shook some snow from his head. I hope she’s warm I hope she’s safe I’ll never forgive myself if anything happens to her. I chose this quote because I didn’t know that matt cared about Katie.

Chapter 14: He is no longer here but in god’s glorious kingdom. I picked this quote because I didn’t know that Nathan Hornbee was religious

Chapter 15: I wouldn’t sign the king’s protection papers. That means that our farm is open game for plundering by British regulars and the hessians alike. Especially if it be known that we wearying a rebel. I picked this quote because I didn’t know that Nathan Hornbee was on neither sides not the patriots not the British.

Chapter 16: matt found himself doing what he did when he was truly terrified he closed his eyes. I picked this quote because I didn’t know that he was terrified

Chapter 17: Hoot look matt said pointing to the shorter Indian boy holding his stomach and making a face he is trying to show that the berries are poison. This quote shows that Indian are friendly.

Chapter 18: that he was no taller than most men and if anything a bit on the short side. Then the soldier reached for his black fur hat that was on the ground so that’s why they look like giants matt thought on seeing the solider put on the long shaped hat it is almost 2 feet above his head. I picked this quote because I didn’t know that they weren’t taller than normal men

Chapter 19: I’ve got to open my eyes I’ve matt was thinking I pick this quote because matt has the courage to open his eyes

Chapter 20: No Gustav Gustav he cried sinking to the ground I picked this quote because he still cares about a bad guy

Chapter 21: I’ve seen every one stopped talking and looked at her. You’ve seen the what I asked. The row boat Katie smiled I’ve seen the row boat. Where matt demanded. Right there Katie pointing to some bushes right behind her. I picked this quote because Katie use to be just a girl getting in trouble but now she is a big deal.

Chapter 22: all I know it sure feels good to be warm again sighed dipping his hand in the water. I picked this quote because there back.

Chapter 23: what on earth is going on here Matt’s mother called over the din matt looked up from his book and grinned I’m just checking if everything still works. I picked this quote because he was wasting energy.

  • The Dream Keeper

                                    Poem by Langston Hughes

My image is that I can see a man and he

Keeps all of the dreams that you dream

And can make you dream that dream over

And over again. I will write the poem so

You know what I’m talking about. Bring

Me all of your dream, You dreamers, Bring

Me all of your heart melodies that I may

Wrap them in blue cloud-cloth away from

The too-rough fingers of the world, If you

Read this you might know why I would

Say those words. I love this poem

Because its peaceful. I hope you

Like this poem as I do

The image that the poem “poem” gave me was that Langston Hughes had heart eyes and liked his friend.

There was rhythm in the poem. My favorite line in the poem is that the poem ends in the poem and it makes me laugh sense it shouldn’t say the poem ends in the poem. My opinion of the poem is I like how he likes his friend.

“Sea Calm”

The image in the poem is strange water that is still.  The literary devices in the poem are rhyme and theme.  My favorite line of the poem is “how strangely still the water is today.”  I picked this line because it shows the whole image.  My opinion of the poem is good because sometimes when I see water it is still.

“Song”

By: Langston Hughes                                                 Review by: G.E.W.               Langston built an image for me by describing the guy’s skin tone in this poem. “Lovely dark and lonely one,” He describes what the guy looks like so this just shows what the guy is like and this builds an image for me from the first stanza. Then from the second stanza, he is describing what the guy is doing, so I can picture the guy with the details from the first stanza. “Face the wall with the dark closed gate, beat with bare brown fists, and wait.” So this is the image Langston built for me.

The literally device Langston used in “Song” is rhyme. I like how the second to last line in the second stanza doesn’t have any rhyme… it just sits there and does its job. “Open wide your arms to life, whirl in the wind of pain and strife face the wall with dark closed gat, beat with bare brown fists, and wait.” See? It doesn’t rhyme with anything. And also he has a rhythm, its sort slow and but smooth, like Carmel. “Lovely dark and lonely one.” Try it sort slowly.

Bare you bosom to the sun. This is my favorite line because I didn’t know what a bosom was then my teacher explained it and I was like “Oh…” because it means your chest area!

I love this poem because it has an image and metaphor that is easy for me to understand. And I like that because I personally don’t like to much of a challenge 1 is enough! This is my review of “Song.”

“DREAMS”

Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams for when dreams go life a barren field with snow.

MY IMAGERY is like it is a dream place and it is all made of clouds and you can fly and you are in a dream tho.

====================================================there is smiles in this è “for if dreams die life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”

====================================================

For if dreams die life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.

====================================================

I loved it I think it was very very good. And I love the ather and he is very good at his job. ====================================================

Seascape

By: Langston Hughes                                                                                                                                                                                 Review By: L. M.D.G.

Seascape is about Langston Hughes going on a boat, and sailing off the coast of Ireland, and off the coast of England. While he’s sailing, he saw a line of fishing ships, sailing by. He said “Etched against the sky-“ This  means that the boats are so far away, they look like their a part of the sky.

And when he was sailing off the coast of England, he saw an Indian merchantman going home. He added this detail because on the coast of England, he was describing what he saw.

The poem was by Langston Hues. The poem was about don’t judge people by there color. I know because in the poem it say’s “ wear it like a banner for the proud”. I like the poem because everybody has a different color and you shouldn’t  be mad because people make fun of you.you should be proud of what color you are wearing .

Wear it Like a banner For the proud-     Not like a shroud. Wear it Like a song Soaring high- not moan or Cry.
