MY IMAGERY IS THAT I SEE FLOWERS SWAYING IN THE WIND THEN I SEE THEM AFTER FALL THEN THEY ARE ALL GONE AND SOME OF THEM ARE ON THE FLOOR COVERED WITH LEAVES. AND THERE IS NO RHYTHM OR RHYME THE THEME IS THAT FLOWERS ARE PRETTY IN THE SPRING BUT IN THE FALL THEY GET TARED UP MY FAVORITE LINE IS FLOWERS ARE HAPPY IN THE SUMMER MY OPINION IS THAT THE POEM IS GOOD BUT THE PART THAT SAYS IN THE AUTUMN FLOWERS ARE DRY AND WITHERED.

George Washington’s Sock by AT

George Washington’s Socks

Chapter 11

On chapter 11 I was surprised when Matt stated, “what if I couldn’t get back?” (Matt is the main character) I picked this quote because it made me wonder how a parent would react if their child went missing. My parents probably would feel sad if I went missing.

Chapter 12

On chapter 12 I felt bad, when the story stated, “he suddenly felt the cold ice seeping”. I picked this quote because I felt scared for his life. I felt as if Matt could’ve died due to the cold. Also, I always get scare when I see someone dying like Matt.

Chapter 13

On chapter 13 I was horrified when the story stated, “ Matt winced at the sight of phlegm and blood dripping from Israel’s mouth”. I picked this quote because what if someone saw someone bleeding on                                                                             someone’s mouth like Matt. My parents would be very horrified because of a very bloody mouth.

Chapter 14

On chapter 14 I was laughing when the story stated “Matt thought he was in his clothes but he wasn’t, Matt was in blankets naked”. This quote made me laugh because he was naked. How can he not know he was naked? I learn that Nathan Hornbee found Matt in the cold without any cloth on. Nathan is brave to bring him home because I would be to scare and embarrass to bring home a naked person.

Chapter 15

On chapter 15 I was surprised when Nathan Hornbee stated “We could loose everything, including our necks!” and Nathan Hornbee’s wife replyed, “He’s got to get dressed and leave at once”! I was surprised because they were nice at first to Matt. However, later on they turn mean because they kick Matt out of the house. Also, who would bring a person in but then evilly kick them out afterward.

Chapter 16

On chapter 16 I was scared when the story stated “One Indian raised a tomahawk while the other held a bow with long arrow pointed directly at Matt’s heart!” I was scare for Matt because someone is pointing an arrow at him. I would be scare for myself if someone pointed an arrow at me. Also, somebody holding a tomahawk would be very dangerous because it can take away someone life.

Chapter 17

On chapter I was laughing when Matt stated “I got down on my knees and put in my thumb in my mouth” I picked that quote because who would put their thumb in there mouth in public like Matt. Matt is too old to put his thumb in his month because only baby does that.

Chapter 18

On chapter 18 I was scared when the story stated “Three Hessian grenadiers in blue and white uniforms were beside Q and Katie” (Q is Matt’s cousin and Katie is Matt’s little sister). I picked this quote because I thought of scary thing when I first read that sentence. To be exact, I thought that the three Hessian grenadiers would kill them. What if the three grenadiers did kill Q and Katie? How would matt feel about it?

Chapter 19

On chapter 19 I was surprised when the story stated, “Matt was thinking frantically as he tried to find the courage to face the enemy”. I picked this quote because Matt is young but he’s fighting an enemy. Also, I felt Matt is brave because he fighting an enemy at such a young age.

Chapter 20

On chapter 20 I was scared when a ragged soldier stated, “So were dealing with some Tory spies” then the story stated “pointing the gun at Hooter” (Hooter is a friend of Matt) I picked the quotes because if someone points a musket at you will you be scared. Also, wouldn’t it be scary if the ragged soldier shot Hooter.

Chapter 21

On chapter 21 I was laughing when the story stated,” Katie showed some floppy socks whom she took from the general”. I picked this quote because I don’t know why someone would want another use socks. I know I wouldn’t take those socks from the general

Chapter 22

On chapter 22 I was surprised when Hooter stated, “Read a book” then Tony replied “What Book?” then Matt replied “Adventures of History”. (Tony is another friend of Matt) I picked the three quotes because I didn’t think they would write their own made-up book named “Adventures of History”. How could 5 kids write their own book together?

Chapter 23

On chapter 23 I was happy when the story stated, “Home sweet home were the only words on Matt’s mind as he walked into his bedroom”. I picked that quote because anybody would be happy if they get to go back to their own home. I know I’m happy when I’m at home because I could relax comfortable in my own space.

Notes

Did you notice in the book it says for my adventurous nephews Matt and Q, so that means, the author wrote the book for his 2 nephews? Another thing did you notice is at the end of the book it says the authors name, which is Elvira Woodruff

DREAMS                                                         THE imagery I had is that a boy / girl is about to give up there dream and then there parent tolled themselves they are not going to give up they know they can do it , they will follow there dreams. The theme of this poem is to never give up and to always follow   you’re  dreams. There are 2 similes in this poem “hold fast to dream for if dreams  die  life is a barn felid filled with snow.’’ That tells me that they are comparing a barn felid and dreams. Another is  “ hold fast to dreams for if dreams are die life is a broken- winged bird that can not fly.’’ That tells me that they are comparing a broken – winged bird and dreams. My favorite line is “ hold fast to dream for if dreams die life is a barn felid covered with snow.’’ Because it shows you that if you let go of you’re dies they will die. My opoinon is that the poem is  very  good ,well thought ,nice.

Long Trip

By: Langston Hughes

Blog by: Andrea

I picked the poem Long Trip because it gave me a lot of imagery. My image of the poem is that there is like a flat surface on land and sea. The metaphor “The sea is a wilderness of waves, means when the narrator was on the trip, he only saw water.” The gist of the poem is that Langston Hughes was traveling in a long trip over sea. My favorite lines are “Rise and roll, hide and are hidden because the narrator was maybe describing the action the boat was doing and maybe there are sea creatures hiding in the sea.” My opinion of the sentences is that it gives me an image of the sea what it looks like on the trip. My image of the two sentences is that Langston was maybe on a boat the waves was moving up and down, it was also moving the boat. – Andrea Ashon

The image is that the friend left and he went away from me and she o he loved her friend.  My favorite line  was that he or she said that they loved her friend.  It is my favorite line because sometimes that happens to me.  That is why I like “Poem.”

“Dreams” by Langston Hughes blog by CB                                                                     imagery; when I first read dreams it gave me a clear perfect image of what the poem is about I think it’s about dreams come and go all the time so u have new dreams come and old dreams go all the time. So that is basically the clear image/gist about the poem.                                                                                                               Literary devices; I think there are some maybe rhyming words and definitely a rhythm/beat. Also, maybe a simile or metaphor in this poem.                                                                                                                         Favorite line/why; my favorite line is “hold fast to dreams” because it is like a really nice inspiration to me.

POEM         BY :NF                                                                                                                                          The imagery to this poem is a guy running away to get away from his friend. It has rhythm and repetition. My favorite line is the last one it says I loved my friend. I liked it because I explains his feelings. My opinion of this poem is it is sad because a guy ran away.

The poem was by Langston Hues. The poem was about don’t judge people by there color. I know because in the poem it say’s “ wear it like a banner for the proud”. I like the poem because everybody has a different color and you shouldn’t  be mad because people make fun of you.you should be proud of what color you are wearing .
