Students are receiving a packet from Sciencebuddies.org.  This website is a great resource to help with science fair work.  The link it located below:

Science: A minimum of 5 questions to guide background research for your science fair topic.

Word Work: lists and definitions/parts of speech.

Today in class, students committed to a topic and one question to explore for their project.  After that, the wrote paragraphs to describe their plans.  Tomorrow I will be checking those paragraphs.  The paragraphs should answer the following questions:

-What will you test?

-What will you do?

-What materials will you need?

-How long will it take to do the experiment?

-What will your variables (control, independent and dependent) be?

-What will your measure?

 

Now is a good time to decide if this is a project your parents and guardians approve of and are aware of.  Also, will you have enough time to complete this experiment before the end of March?

We will have a topic 4 test on Tuesday, January 30.  Students have review pages in their math books, and they can also take their online test for practice.

Word Work Assessment Project

Math pages 240, 241, 242 #3-5, 243 #8, 244 # 16 (quiz grade)

Students should come to school Friday with their topic and three possible questions to study.

Math: pages 234, 235, 236 #5, quiz grade for one problem on 238 tomorrow

Word Work: Sentences

Word Work Definitions and parts of speech are due tomorrow.

We have been preparing for a narrative writing assignment in which students will describe a trip to Southern Africa.  This essay will contain a minimum of 5 paragraphs, describe at least three countries, and must include information in the following categories: culture, location, physical geography.  Each essay must contain an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.  We will be working on paragraphs in class.  The due date is January 30, 2018.
