GEORGE WASHINGTONS  SOCKS     BY:ELMB                  ch.1:in my opinion kids should not have muskets and should not be in the war!         “Matt curled his cold fingers around his musket”. I chose this quote because it shows how kids could get nervous if they are about to go in war.

Ch.2:adults should always offer their coats to cold children.

“without a coat the cold air just went right threw matt”. This shows kids should not be outside without coats.I chose this quote because it shows kids shouldn’t be in war because they would be to cold.

Ch.3:Adults should not call children cowards.

“they might think he’s a coward”. I chose this quote because it shows that in that time people would think others were cowards because of there looks.

Ch.4:16 year olds should not be in the war in my opinion.

Ch.14:I am happy that Matt got saved by mr.hornbee. I feel good because Matt got what he hoped for . To go somewhere other then war.

Ch.15:I am even more happy because Matt has gotten food, warm clothes and a house.I feel good for Matt.

Ch.16:I am scared Matt is near Indians. I am happy about tony and hooter are with the Indians.

“Katie is not hurt Matt.” I chose this quote because it shows that Katie is not hurt but she might not be with them.

Ch.17:I am happy Matt is going to find Katie. And , I think the Native Americans are being funny because they are trying to get the little man out of the small pocket video game when they are from the 18^th century.

Ch.18:I am so nervous about the Hessians. They might catch Matt Tony or Hooter when they are trying to save Q and Katie

“Matt did the one thing he hoped he hadn’t……………he closed his eyes”. I chose this quote because it shows that the hessians might get him if he keeps his eyes closed so it shows the risk of getting captured and not saving Katie.

Ch.19:I am surprised that the hessians are nice to the group and sick to my stomach of what the rebels did to Gustav.

“Help Katie cried as the thin ice cracked under her and her left leg disappeared into a hole in the ice”. I chose this quote because it shows Katie could die if someone doesn’t save her.

Ch.20: I am sad Gustav died .He was really nice , and he saved Katie.

”They had come so close to getting home and now they were suddenly closer to getting thrown in jail.” I chose this quote because it shows that you may be wondering why they are being thrown in jail and why , they are not home yet.

Ch.21:I am happy and surprised.Happy they are not in war zone anymore but surprised if they aren’t home.

“Mateo are we home.” I chose this quote because it leaves a cliff hanger of the best part of the book, if they are home or not.

Ch.22: I am happy they got home and are warm.

“As the mist slowly lifted and the golden sun rose in the east everyone looked out across the lake to find Tony’s house nestled saftly in the trees just the way we left it.” I chose this quote because it shows the happiness of being home and not dead or in jail or even still in 1776.

My reaction to this chapter is that i think it’s kinda funny. I think that it’s funny because Matt meets the Indians and the funniest part for me is the part when Matt tries to find his little sister Katie

 

 

The house broke 6 years ago. Drama. Emily and Lydia are 6. Emily is out in the garden, making dolls out  vegtables, fun. Lydia is nitting. Daddy died last night. Not John, he was already dead. I’m talking about Adam. I’m sitting drinking tea when Lydia comes running down to me. “MMMMMOOOOOMMMMMMMYYYYYY!” She says dramatically. “Yes?” “Why did Daddy die?” “Because he did.” Oh.”  “Hows the nitting going?” “Bad.”

THE NIGHT BEFORE…

It was a normal night. I playing with Emily and Lydia. Carolina brought in mollases cookies, then started playing with Lydia. Suddenly Lily burst in “Oh its a sad thing!!” “You poor baby girl!!” “What?” I ask, slightly sure Lily had gone crazy!!!”He’s dead, so dead!” “Grandpa?” Asked Emily, slightly alarmed.”No… D-D-D-” “ADAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”  I screamed hysterically. I rushed out on to the seen of death. 5 bodies lay dead, 1 of thems Adams.

I love this book in chapter Eleven I like when matt said” I’ve got a friend I’ll be all right “I like that because he might be ok in chapter

In chapter twelve I liked when “matt was stood there in the cold” I felt really bad

Since I “moved” in with Lily:), it has been LOUD! My term was up, so I moved in with Lily. Lydia is playing with Grandpa, and Lydia is napping. It is nice.  My mom is sitting doing taxes, I make myself the last bit of tea we have, Emily starts screaming. Suddenly, I hear a loud PANG! I go upstairs, grab Emily sneak Carolina away from her afternoon choirs, and get Grandpa and Lydia. I bring them down to Lily. “Goodness Gracious!” Lily snaps ” What is all that racket???” :(?????? Dad looks out the window. “Rampage.” He says simply. I could hear the screams and yells: Tea, Tax, Sugar, Get her!!” “Mom??” I squeak. The house started to tremble. Then it started to quake. Carolina picked up Emily and I picked up Lydia. suddenly The roofs suddenly gives in  “RUN!!!!!!!!!!” Carolina screams. I kick down the door. Then everything went black. Entry #2 Adeline Johnson March 17th 1764

John died. I changed my last name beacause John died. I just had another child. Her name is Emily. Carolina begged Master Lily to let come help me with Lydia and Emily, but, Lily put her outside for 72 hours!  Rosie is even rosier than than her name! She decided that her children would help. Henry & Josef have been a big help. Lydia HATES Emily. She dosen’t want Emily to steal all the attention, I geuss. I hear Dave talking to Josef and Henry. “In 9 years we are going to do something about these taxes!” In 9 years Henry will be 17, and Josef will be 14. I honestly don’t care about whatever they do with the taxes. I’ve got to go, Emily and Lydia are fighting. I’ll be sad when my term is over. 😦

 

16 hours ago Lydia BIT Emily, So now I’m taking care of a screaming Emily. I got rid of my old owners, now I belong to Mom, AKA: Master Lily Peyton. Carolina took Lydia and is talking to her. So, old owner came earlier and Basically brooke Lily’s house. It dosen’t help that Emily keeps throwing rags at Lydia. Lydia is yelling, Emily throwing rags, and Grandpa is actually “ENJOYING” this mess. So, I recuited a bunch of people and they fixed my Mom’s house. For 32 peices of silver. Not horrible. Since Lily is 21, she was angary. I don’t care if she is mad or not. Lydia is trying to bite Emily again. The war is not goimg well. Some people have actually gotten killed because of those Hessians.

 

I belong to my Mom. people have rampaged our house 27 times now. It is starting to get annoying, and I have to go. I think a war might be breaking out.

Ch.11: Matt said “Don’t worry, mom, George Washington and a few of his friends are here to see that”.

That really surprised me when I heard that because he wanted to go home so much he imagined talking to his mom

 

Ch.12: Matt said “Ten…uh ten and a half really”.

I thought that was funny because Matt was trying to sound as old as he could.

 

Ch.13: Matt said “And oh, yeah, Batman. I’ve got to tell you about batman. See there’s this guy Bruce Wayne, who’s

Living in Gotham city…are you listening, Israel”? I thought that was cool because Matt was trying to tell him about life at home and keep himself company at the same time.

 

Ch.14:  Matt said “My friend is sick” I could tell Matt really cared about Israel and wanted to help him as fast as he could and that’s what real friends do!

 

Ch.15: Mrs.Hornbee said “It’s not the season to be without shoes” I could see that even though she wanted Matt out of her house as soon as possible she still did not want Matt to be without shoes.

 

Ch.16: Matt said “Hooter I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to see anybody in my whole life”! That made me super happy because he found one of his friends.

 

Ch.17: “No you’ve got to leave the batteries in or the game won’t work” I thought that was funny that the Indian did not know what batteries were.

 

Ch.18: “It’s for chewing”. The hessians did not know what Bubble gum is.

 

Ch.19: “Ya ya Hoot” it was funny because Germen don’t speak English and their words are funny.

 

Ch.20: “I hate war”! I was really sad because Gustv Died and Hoot was really sad and Matt just wanted to go home and it was just so sad!

 

Ch.21: “do you think were home? I think they are home and it’s warm and happy.

 

Ch.22: “It appears that a person traveling though time can experience days, week’s, and even years and then return home to find that he’s only a few hours”.

I liked that quote because its fictional magic and I like it.

Entry#1     March 7th 1764       Adeline McKinley

I am a servant to a family of 4 at a farm. My life is busy, for I too have a family. I have a child, her name is Lydia. I soon will have another child. Lydia is 2 months. I’m holding Lydia when my husband tells me the news. King George III has put a tax on molasses. I’m going to pay a visit to Tax Collector Lily. I take Lydia. “Keep weeding!” I order John, my husband. And I jump on our mule, Carrot.

At  Lily’s, I notice my sister, Carolina, waiting. “Hi!” Since Carolina was 3, she had been a servant to Lily. ” C’mon.” I say to Lydia. Lydia had already started crawling. Living with Lily isn’t easy,Carolina barely grew up!When she was 3, all she had was a brick. Carolina leads me past about 300 people. “Whoa!” I say. “Carolina?”Lily screams. “Yes?” Carolina replies. “Bring me the next appointment and go get me some tea!” Lily roars. “Bye.” Carolina says and gently pushes me into the room. “Rosie and Dave would never treatme like that!” I say quietly. I step in. ” I hate children!” She demands looking at Lydia. Lydia moans.

My meeting with with Lily didn’t go very well.  Lily has a lot of blond hair and wears alot of colorful colors. I go home. Dave and John had both gone to the tavern. I had no idea that John would die at the event called the Boston Massacre.

My reaction to chapter 11 first was happiness to see Matt had had Israel, then I got nervous when Israel took a little while getting up.

Chapter 12- First my reaction was nervousness because of the big storm that was happening and the drummer describing the Hessians.

Quote: They wear their hair down to their waste’s like Barbarians and they take no quarters. I choose this quote because  it represents the bad guys, and how bad they are.

Chapter 13- First my reaction was curiosity and upsetness. what was happening to Israel? At the end I started to cry, because, it is just so,  peaceful.

Chapter 14- First my reaction was confused. I didn’t know who was talking to Matt, and I was curious to what happened to Israel?

Chapter 15- First I was relieve and proud. I was relieved that Matt didn’t die, and proud of Nathan Hornbee to take Matt in. Then Nathan sent Matt off and I got a little scared!

Chapter 16- First my reaction was scared because Matt met Indians and tried to kill him, but Hooter and Tony came and rescued him, but as they told their story, I went from happy to terrified.

Quote: They carried Katie and Q off on their shoulders. I picked this quote because it shows someone took Katie and Q somewhere, but it doesn’t say who.

Chapter 17- First my reaction was excitement, because Katie and Q needed rescuing, so I’m like whoa! Then then I felt bewildered when the Indians and Tony were playing a video game and the Indians were so confused!

Quote:  They’ve seen them! I picked this quote because it shows that someone knows where someone is but it doesn’t spoil anything.

Chapter 18-  First my reaction was scared. The Hessians were going through Q’s things and Hooter, Tony & Matt almost got seriously hurt!

Quote: So those are the blood thirsty giants. I picked this quote because it shows that they know where the hessians are, but it doesn’t prove that Katie and Q are with them!

Chapter 19- First my reaction was nervousness. The Hessians were trying to kill them, but one Hessian soldier helps, and bad stuff happens!

Quotes: Here is one Hessian you can trust boys! I picked this quote because it shows that something could’ve happened to the Hessians but it doesn’t give away everything.

Chapter 20- At first my reaction was scared. Some rebels wanted to do some… unpleasent stuff to Matt, Q& Hooter, but I was thrilled when George Washington saved the boys lifes, basically.

Quote: Our victory today has brought us that much closer to the peace we long for and the freedom we seek. I picked this quote beacuse I picked this quote because I think it tells you a little about George Washington and something about the book witout spilling the beans!

Chapter 21- First my reaction was confused because they kept ignoring Katie, and I was like Why are they ignoring Katie? Then I got a little scared when the diged deep into the boats past and found something a little scary!!!!!!

Quote: Emit Levart spelled backwards is Time Travel!!! I picked this quote because I think it’s a very big part of the book ;)!!!!!!!!!!

Chapter 22- First my reaction was curoisty. I had no idea where the members of the adventure club was they knew they had traveled somewhere, but where???

Chapter 23- First my reaction was good. Then it turned to hilarious because the parents thought that their adventure was made up and were asking all these un-true questions!

Quote: Will you pass me the sugar son? I choose this quote because because it just made crack up because  Matt had put peas into the sugar jar and Katie knows it, so Matt might get into major trouble!!!

I chose these quotes because I think  they seem to give out enough information without telling the Viewers everything in the story.
